The module gives an understanding of the concept of savings and investments and the instruments available for the investors. It provides insight on assessing the level of risk involved in the investment products and classifies them according to the risk associated with it.

Knowledge of certain basics like simple and compound interest is essential to understand investment returns. The module deals with simple and compound interest rates, Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR), Present value and future value of money, Net Present Value (NPV) of money and Internal Rate of Return (IRR).

The module provides the basic knowledge of mutual funds and its types based on structure and investment objective.
